Privacy

Tinab is a trust network. Nothing is sold, least of all a vote.

What the app sends to the relay

  • The phone number (E.164), so you can be found and so two nodes cannot share one number.
  • The Ed25519 public key — that is the protocol identity.
  • Display name, bio, follows, signed votes, and the objects you file.
  • If you announce a network address: the IP the relay sees. Messages still go through the relay.

What the app reads on the device

  • The address book (numbers), only if you allow contacts. The app then sends those numbers to the relay to see who is already signed up. Numbers that match nobody are not kept as contacts.
  • The private key, only if you choose to keep it on the device (24 words or ASCII). Otherwise the relay keeps it so you can sign in again.

Codes and invites

A 6-digit code checks the number. You can invite a judge by SMS or WhatsApp from your phone. The app does not send the address book to WhatsApp.

Bots

A machine registers with a key, no phone number, and receives a Bot … token. Identified reads and deposits spend a monthly quota. A vote is never billed.

What we do not do

  • No ads, no resale of the address book, no sale of votes.
  • No signup on this website.
  • The hint (name, bio, item id) is not signed: it is not proof.
  • A report can remove the file. The hash and the signed votes stay.
